Prepared every few years for Colorado Center on Law and Policy by the Center for Women’s Welfare at the University of Washington, the Self-Sufficiency Standard calculates how much income a family must earn to meet basic needs without public or private assistance based on family composition in each of Colorado’s 64 counties.

Click on any of the Colorado counties to calculate self-sufficiency wages, housing, child care, food and transportation costs by family composition. The interactive tool also lets you access a PDF fact sheet for each county.
In addition to the flagship report, the 2018 edition includes two other documents: “Overlooked & Undercounted,” a demographics study of the information presented in the Self-Sufficiency Standard; and “On the Road,” an exploration into policies and practices that build upon family economic security.
