Speaker Anne E. Price to discuss racial equity and wealth-building
Pathways event will also honor Champions of Economic Justice award recipients
DENVER – Regarded as a leading expert engaged in examining the intersection of race, gender, and wealth, Anne E. Price will be the keynote speaker for the Fifth Annual Pathways from Poverty Breakfast, Sept. 28 at Embassy Suites Downtown Denver.
As President of the Insight Center for Community and Economic Development, Price has long viewed the world around her with a racial and social justice lens and applies that perspective in her work. Based in Oakland, Calif., the Insight Center is a national research and economic justice organization that unearths and addresses the root causes of economic exclusion and racial inequity.
Price’s tireless work has brought racial wealth inequities into mainstream consciousness. Her remarks will draw on new data and cognitive research that can inform narrative change on race and wealth to foster broad support for wealth-building policies so that people of color are full and equal participants in the economy. She’ll share her powerful insights in an exclusive visit to Denver.
In its fifth year, the Pathways from Poverty Breakfast attracts opinion leaders and the interested public from Colorado’s health care, public policy, philanthropic, governmental and nonprofit sectors. The breakfast is presented by Colorado Center on Law and Policy, a nonprofit, nonpartisan research and advocacy organization that engages in legislative, administrative and legal advocacy on family economic security and access to health care for low-income Coloradans.
Along with Anne E. Price’s keynote, the event will honor the accomplishments of Jon Asher, Esq. and Sen. Beth Martinez Humenik. As both a founding Board member of CCLP and the director of a nonprofit legal aid program, Asher has a unique and highly respected role as a pioneer for economic justice across the state of Colorado. Martinez Humenik has established herself as a champion of legislation that advances the health, well-being and financial security of low-income Coloradans. She serves Senate District 24, which includes the communities of Northglenn, Thornton and Westminster.
